After much speculation, Microsoft has officially announced the release date of Windows 11, and its on October 5. The latest Operating System will be available as a free optional upgrade through Windows Update for eligible devices, which means, System meets the minimum requirements to install Windows 11. As well as, it is very evident that pre-installed Windows 11 laptops and desktops will start shipping from October 5, 2021.
However, the latest version will not be available on all eligible devices on the first day, but like many early Windows updates, it will be available in different phases. Microsoft will initially offer Windows 11 on qualified new devices and will extend it to in-market devices based on factors that may impact the upgrade experience. Additionally, Microsoft expects Windows 11 to be fully available by mid-2021.
How to install Windows 11 on Eligible Devices:
If you are having a system compatible with Windows 11, then you can follow the below-given steps to verify the availability of the new version on your System,
- Firstly, select the Settings app by pressing Windows + I altogether and go to the Update and Security category.
- Then from the right pane menu, click on Check for updates option under the Windows Update.
Note: You need to install the upgrade manually. This means if you wish to continue on Windows 10, then you can stay on until October 14, 2025. Another good news is Microsoft will soon release a 21H2 update for Windows 10 users.
Check your System have minimum system requirements for Windows 11:

If you get a message showing- Your System can’t run Windows 11, you have the option to upgrade to Windows 11, but Windows Update will not allow you to complete the same process. You have to use the ISO file and Media Installation Tool to upgrade to Windows 11. For this process, the System only needs to meet some basic hardware requirements, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2, and a 64-bit processor with a minimum of two cores
But you have to upgrade at your own risk because Microsoft might not give any guarantee to system or Driver updates.
Android apps will not be available through the Microsoft Store:
A big disappointment for Windows 11 users is that not all of the previously announced features will be available in the October 5 version. The Android app is the most talked-about feature, and only a preview of the Android app will be available to Windows insiders at an early stage. We can expect the same feature in Windows 11 in 2022. Anyway, Microsoft already teamed up with Amazon and Intel to bring the Android app to Windows 11. But unfortunately, this feature is not available on the October 5th update and will get in future updates.
