How to fix Update Error 0xc19001001 BDOS on Windows 11

As same to the previous version of Windows, Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 also getting BSOD issues. Several Windows 11 users complained on the Windows Insider Program platform that they are getting Update Error 0xc19001001 while trying to install Windows 11 Insider Preview 22449.1000 and 22454.1000.

Unfortunately, there is no positive result from Windows, and the official solutions can be expected soon. Until then, you can try some simple and easy solutions to tackle the same problem. In this article, we list some fixes for the Update error 0xc19001001 BDOS issue in Windows 11. These solutions are not harmful and will not ruin your system. So let’s have a look.

Fix 1: Run SFC and DISM Scan:

If your system contains any corrupted system files, it may interrupt the new update process. All you can do here is run an SFC scan. You can follow these steps to run the SFS scan.

  • Firstly, press Windows + R simultaneously to launch the RUN dialog box and type cmd and press OK.
  • Then open the Command Prompt window with administrative access.sfc/ scannow
  • Inside the Command prompt window, type or copy then paste the following command and then press Enter,

  • Once done, check the issue is solved. If not, then type the following command and then press Enter,

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth

  • Once executed the commands, restart the system and check for improvement.

Fix 2: Update Driver:

Some suffered users reported, they were getting the “Driver pnp watchdogs” message with the Update Error code 0xc1900100. In this scenario, the problem might be in the driver installed on your system. Here you need to update all the drivers to install the latest update on Windows 11.

  • Firstly, right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager from the context menu.
  • Then in the Device Manager, check any driver is outdated. (You can see a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark beside the outdated or corrupted driver).
  • Now right-click over the outdated driver and click on the Update driver option from the drop-down menu.
  • If the updating didn’t resolve the problem, you need to uninstall using the above steps and reinstall the driver.
  • Once done, check for improvement.

Fix 3: Remove External Driver:

If you have any external drives connected while installing Windows 11 Insider Preview 22449.1000 and 22454.1000, you need to remove the external drives. After removing the external drive from your system, you can download and install the update. This solution has worked for many users, which is why we recommend this solution here.

Fix 4: Install Standard SATA AHCI Controller:

Few suffered users reported that they finally managed to get rid of the Update Error 0xc19001001 BDOS issue by installing the Standard SATA AHCI Controller. Here we also recommend the same. To install the Standard SATA AHCI Controller, you can follow these steps,

Caution: You need to select Standard SATA AHCI Controller at your own risk. Because you are not allowed to install the Intel driver again. To overcome this issue, you need to use the Automatic repair command or DISM command in the Command Prompt window.

  • Firstly, type Device Manager in the taskbar search box and open the relevant search result.
  • Then inside the Device Manager window, select and expand the option IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers.
  • Now right-click on the Intel controller and select the Update driver from the drop-down menu. In the newly opened window, you need to select the Browse my computer for drivers option.
  • Then select Let me pick from a list and then choose SATA AHCI Controller.
  • Once done, restart the system and check the said issue is resolved for you or not.

Fix 5: Clone your SSD with an HDD:

If there is any compatibility issue between Samsung SDD and Windows Update, you may encounter an update error 0xc19001001 BDOS issue. The best solution here is to clone your SDD and HDD and boot into the HDD.

Fix 6: Install the update Again:

After installing the Insider Preview 22449.1000 update, if any user’s Taskbar gets unresponsive and does not get access to the Settings app, you need to follow the below steps to resolve the same issue quickly. 

  • Firstly, in the desktop search box, type Task Manager and open the relevant search result. 
  • Then in the Task Manager window, select Files and click on the Run new task option from the drop menu.
  • Now in the open field, type cmd and click on OK.
  • The Command Prompt window will open for you, then type the following command and then press Enter.
  • Once done, restart the system; now, your system might be back to normal. Then you can install new updates on your system.
